YI Dance is devoted to teaching and choreographing ballet, Chinese dance, Jazz, and modern dance. The mission of YI Dance is to make available the exceptional dance education resources of the Royal Academy of Dance and the Beijing Dance Academy to dancers in Toronto and throughout Canada. Established as a premier dance school in 2012, YI Dance has garnered a reputation for unparalleled teaching quality, consistently attracting hundreds of enthusiastic students year after year.
YI Dance is a distinguished institution for dance education that is committed to delivering exceptional quality training. Its quality is backed by some of the top Canadian dance educators in ballet and Chinese dance. YI Dance's state-of-the-art dance studios are approved by the Royal Academy of Dance as an RAV (RAD Approved Venue), enabling it to offer international standard dance syllabi, exquisite dance techniques, elegant dance performances, and a culture of creativity that motivates dancers throughout Toronto.
YI Dance delivers classic and modern dance classes that conform to international standards for children, adults, and dance professionals. As one of the most extensive and top-quality offerings of RAD, YI Dance provides all-grade RAD ballet classes. YI Dance students have consistently achieved nearly 100% Distinction and Merit in past RAD examinations. In the 2023 RAD examination, YI Dance obtained 38 Distinctions, including 3 High Distinction, and 69 Merits, 54 of which were High Merit.
As the leading standard-bearer of Chinese dance in Canada, YI Dance is the only school in GTA that offers a complete range of group classes from grade 1 to 13 of Chinese dance by the Beijing Dance Academy. YI Dance students have constantly achieved 100% “Distinction” and “Merit” in past Beijing Dance Academy's Chinese dance examinations. In the 2022 examination, YI Dance students participated in grade 1-12 examinations, with an outstanding 86.4% of them achieving "Distinction" and the remainder obtaining "Merit". This remarkable outcome further sets YI Dance apart from other dance institutions and establishes a high standard for others to strive to catch up to.
YI Dance also provides quality instruction in BATD Jazz, in addition to popular classes like Hip-hop and Lyrical. One-on-one dance instruction is available upon request.
